Sarah is a Nurse Psychotherapist and the owner of Evolve Therapy & Counselling in Kingston.
She offers support in perinatal mental health and to couples looking to improve their relationship.
Sarah has been a nurse for 8 years, primarily working in women’s health. She has experience working in postpartum care, obstetrics & gynaecology clinics and the women’s clinic (now known as Lakeside Clinic). Sarah’s passion for women’s health inspired her to expand on her nursing knowledge, gaining additional education to provide psychotherapy in perinatal mental health. Her approach to therapy is client-centred and integrative. She uses a combination of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy.
Along with this, Sarah absolutely loves working with relationships. As a nurse, she believes in research-based methods and aims to apply this to her therapy techniques. She is level 1 and level 2 trained in The Gottman Method which is a scientific-based approach to couples counselling. She infuses this method with components of Emotionally Focused Therapy to provide couples with the tools needed to repair their relationship and refrain from falling back into the same negative patterns. In addition, Sarah works on helping couples heal after an affair or betrayal. She has taken additional training in Treating Trauma & Affairs from the Gottman Institute and works with the couple to repair and rebuild a stronger relationship.
Sarah is also a Bringing Baby Home Educator through the Gottman Institute. She understands that relationship dynamics/needs change after welcoming a baby to the family. She teaches couples about the transition to parenthood and provides skills to maintain a happy and healthy relationship during this amazing, but challenging, time in their lives.
Sarah strives to offer a non-judgemental, compassionate and supportive space where you can be honest and be yourself.
